Ages 10-adult. $35- half hour/$50- 45 minutes/$65- 1 hour

***I also offer sliding scale payment on a case by case basis, just let me know your situation as much as you are comfortable with, and we can work out a payment plan that works for both of us.*****

I am interested in music theory and technique equally as much as self expression and musical confidence. My lessons are fun and challenging, and are for the committed lifelong musician and the casual weekend music lover alike. I will teach you the ins and outs of music theory, and all of the nerdy stuff that one student can handle, and then teach you how to forget it all, and go on stage and rock the house down.

***I believe that every person is welcome to enjoy the gift of music no matter their ability, learning style, or other societal factor, (race, gender identity, class, age→ (within my limits)) and will make accommodations for anyone, or find a trusted colleague who can.****

guitar lessons

improve your guitar muscle memory and understanding of the instrument by:

  • Learning basic open chords, power chords and bar chords (so you can look your favorite songs up and play them right then and there!)

  • Learning about the relationships between scales, chords, and keys, and how we can use that information to craft chord progressions and guitar solos.

  • Learning any songs you want to bring in.

  • Learning riffs, solos, picking patterns and picking rhythms through rock, country, pop, and folk songs (and more!)

songwriting lessons

a fun, creative, and safe place to explore your ideas for songs and to flesh out song ideas with me, as well as learn:

  • The basics of poetic voice, and finding yours

  • The skills of free-writing and the importance of allowing your poetic voice to speak freely

  • The basics of chord progressions, and how to build a song around them

  • How to write a fun and catchy melody

  • The basics of branding yourself as an artist

  • Recording and mixing basics in GarageBand or Logic Pro X

  • The basics of either an instrument to write songs on and/or vocals (if applicable)

Piano lessons

a great introduction into the world of music, which can take many paths, such as:

  • Following of the Faber books series or another instructional book series you have/want to get (I also enjoy Piano Safari)

-and/or-

  • Jumping right in to easy classical pieces (I most often do this with adults)

As well as:

  • The basics of the relationships between chords, scales, and keys

  • Learning any songs you love :)

voice lessons

learn how to sing in the shower, or at karaoke, or in a band with your friends by learning:

  • Different areas of resonance within the voice

  • Tips to feel confident with singing

  • The anatomy of your instrument

  • Vocal health and healthy practice habits

  • Solfege (Do, Re, Mi, etc.) and how to use it in everyday singing

  • An easy entrance into the world of reading and writing music on the staff

  • And we will learn any songs you would like, as well as some favorites of mine!

Praise from students:

Daliah, age 17:

“I have been Celeste’s student for a while now and I'm very happy with my progression in both guitar/ theory and songwriting. I went into these lessons as a beginner and the idea of writing a song on my own seemed completely out of reach and very scary but through this process, I've not only written many songs that I feel proud of but I've also become much more comfortable with performing and getting out of my shell. Celeste shows real interest in everything that I want to work on and puts so much time into making sure I can practice the skills that I want to get good at. They put in time and effort and truly listen to my needs as a student and create a lesson around that. They have created a safe space where I can learn in a non-judgmental environment regardless of the level I'm at and my growth in the last few months both in skill and confidence are definitely very noticeable.”

Thanks for reading this far! If you have any questions, or you are interested, please feel free to contact me at either of the ways listed above.

Can't wait to hear from you and start your musical journey!
